Ghosts of Dudley Castle
Dudley Castle stands over the city on a limestone hill, one of the highest points in the West Midlands. It is now a ruin, in part because some of its owners over the centuries, rebelled against the Crown. In the civil war, however, the castle was a royalist stronghold was besieged and seriously damaged in 1646. During the Industrial Revolution, coal mines and limestone quarries are deep below the castle court, with the miners who suffer injuries and death.
