Survey for Psych Class: What moments as a child (under 13) were your happiest and your saddest?
For Papa: Happiest was winning a Halloween costume contest dressed as Santa Claus in an outfit my mother had made me. She even made a costume for my dog, that said ‘Rudolph’ with a head piece of small antlers.
Saddest: At 8 years old when the ambulance came and took her away. Somehow I knew I wasn’t going to see her again.
it’s hard to single out one happiest moment, but when i was 10 or so my dad was helping fall some trees on my uncles land and a nest of crows came down with one of them. that was sad, but the happy part was we took the 5 babies home and raised them. they were so much fun. a sad moment also involved a bird, we had a pet robin, we had also raised him from a baby. he was the best bird ever, his name was peepers, and he stayed with us long after he was grown, he’d fly off and do his thing, but always came back. one day he was visiting the neighbor lady, she was gardening and he liked to look for worms, anyway, her devil boy stomped on peepers and killed him. crap, that was over 40 years ago and i’m starting to cry thinking about that…..i loved that bird and he was so trusting, and to have that little brat do that..my whole family grieved over the loss of peepers. i guess i never got over it.. : (
