Halloween Disney Pet Costumes

-Who likes to take out every Halloween book and tape out of the library and read them by themselves or to their pets (lol)?
-Who is never too old for trick or treating?
-Who loves to watch all those Halloween t.v. movies on disney channel, even if they don’t like disney?
-Who is sad when Halloween is over?
Halloween Lovers! Who Agrees? Add ur silly Halloween traditions
Oh! Me! Me! Me! I wear a black sequened really short minidress, orange and black striped pantyhose, and a tall satin witches’ hat. (OK, the black sequened dress is a micromini cocktail dress with a low sweetheart neckline). I wear black patent leather flats, you can’t dance in the grass with high heels. I never wear a mask or makeup, I don’t want to scare the little ones.
I bought an iron cook pot at a flea market years ago (a bit of an investment, expect to pay $30-80). On the morning of Halloween, I put my gardening gloves and an ice chest in the back of the car. Then I go buy dry ice and put it in the ice chest.
You have to keep an iron pot warm or it will crack when you put in the dry ice. In the city limits, we can’t have an open fire. On the other hand, a grill is OK. I put down about a 4′ x 4′ square of aluminum foil on the driveway. Under the aluminum foil, I put (brick) cinderblocks to make a circle to hold up the cauldron. Then I fold the aluminum foil over the blocks.
When it is about dark, I pour in self-lighting charcoal briquets and drop a match. When the coals are lit, I set the cauldron on the brick blocks covered with aluminum foil and fill the cauldron with hot water (can use a tea kettle inside and pails to bring out hot water). The coals don’t have to spend time trying to heat all that water if you already bring out hot water. The fuller the pot, the better the smoke.
I use a folding card table covered with a Halloween tablecloth to put the candy on and under the table and tablecloth, I put the cooler and the gloves and a pair of goggles for eye protection.
Put the goggles and gloves on and drop a chunk of the dry ice in the warm water. (remember to close the cooler and put the goggles and gloves on top of the cooler) The warm water gurgles and makes great noises. It also smokes up the driveway (and in the right humidity, the yard will smoke up, too).
We dress up, play music (from a boom box under the tablecloth), dance, sing, practice the cackle (email me, there’s a trick to that) and give candy to the trick-or-treaters. People come from 3 counties and bring their cameras to get their pictures made with us and the cauldron. People driving by turn around and come back to take snaps with their cell phones.
There is also the fun. Two years ago a little girl came dressed as a witch. I called out “Greetings, Sister! What a lovely outfit you are wearing! Thou art such a pretty young witch! Such a lovely witch should have two treats, you pick them out!” I continued to ad lib chat with her about her great witch clothes and her mom and dad went crazy with the cameras. She nags her parents to bring her to see the witch every year now (per her dad).
The cackle is fun because just once in a while, someone unseen somewhere in the neighborhood cackles back. When my husband does the werewolf howl, sometimes a howl comes back from somewhere in the neighborhood.
This year, for our guests for the Halloween party at our house on 10/30/09 I am backing a version of a tiered cake (rectangle pan and square pan) and I will frost it whatever color we decide on for the theme. On top, I am using one of the skeleton cake toppers from ebay (keyword search “Skeleton Cake Topper” keyword search “Love Never Dies” and keyword search “Dia de los Muertos Cake Topper”)
OMG! I could go on and on!
