If I want to take my pet rats out on Halloween, what are some good precautions?

Now, first of all, I do NOT want any people going, ‘eww rats’ because that gets old and is extremely immature.

Okay, so, I have two rats, and I wanted to take them out trick or treating on Halloween. I took the first one I had out last year, and it was definitely a success…I think he had fun ^_^. I got two more (but one died :( . So now only a total of two) and I wanted to do that again this year, if it does not rain and is not too cold. I was going to dress them up, thinking that if I made their costumes comfortable it would help keep them warm, but I decided against it. I have something to carry them in, and I will be sure not to let them get lost or have someone hurt them, but I want to be careful, so any good tips?

P.S. Please do not just say ‘Do not take them’ because that is not an answer to my question.
Okay, I already said–if it is cold, I would not have taken them. Plus, Scorpius was fine last year, and I only had from 6-6:30 anyway, and besides the fact that there were few people, I stayed away from crowds.

    rats rock =D
i agree, people saying ‘eww rats’ is extremely immature and shows they have no idea what theyre talking about

if i was going to take mine out i would probably just take them out in a well decorated carrier, like, with halloween decorations, but only if youre sure your rats will like it. i have rats that would hate it, but also ones that just love to come out anywhere, even if they have to be in a carrier

you could hold one in a red carrier and one in a white carrier and they could be like the angel and devil that you always see in cartoons (where they are sitting on their shoulders)(but they wouldn’t need to be on your shoulder). And that would be a safe way to carry them, and it could keep them a little bit warmer?

I know you said not to say this, but for the welfare of your rats I am going to. It will be too cold for the rats; they won’t be used to that sort of temperature. Also, it will be a very stressful experience for them. They will become frightened of the noise and unfamiliar surroundings.

You sound like you have decided to take them, but doing it in a responsible way.

So its a matter of reducing the risk. Risk of them running away, falling or being grabbed by people being silly.

How about putting them in a creepy looking box with internal lighting? Make sure they cannot gnaw anything they shouldn’t.
